BRAINSTORMING

1. Ideas sometimes grow out of irritation. What is a negative thought you are having about your project? What is the opposite of this negative thought? How could you implement a change in your project so that this negative thought will subside?

I was afraid that some people may find the images of drag queens offensive. The opposite would be people finding the images empowering. At this point, I have to do my best to emphasize all the power and self esteem.

2. What is the “opposite” of your final project? How can you rework your project to include the “opposite”?

The opposite of my project might be to show drag queens in their everyday attire.

3. What is a consistent theme/visual element in your project? What would be the opposite of this? How can you implement that into your project?

The consistent theme is motion and color. I think I could break this up with some still images and black and white images.

4. Type twenty words or phrases that relate to your project.

Color, motion, power, self-esteem, beauty, empowerment, individuality, fashion, performance, charisma, joy, insight, differences, dancing, confidence, bright, light, laughter, love, personality, imapct.

5. At the deepest core, describe why you like this project. Dig deep!

This project is my attempt at forcing people and myself to find beauty in unconventional places.

6. Expand your project. If time, money, materials, etc would not affect you, how would you expand your project?

I would travel to the homes of the drag queens to find out what they are like outside of the drag world.

7. Contract your project. What would it boil down to if squeezed and contracted to its simplest form?

One beautiful image of a person. Despite, what the world thinks that person should be, I'd like everyone to look at the image and see beauty.

8. Remove something from your project. How does it change?

If I remove the video from the image, I think it will eliminate some of the power and energy in the piece.

9. Look at one of your images. Redesign it entirely.

I have one very strong image of a woman with her hands up. I cut it out and put it in a potato chip bag. Its looked cool.

10. How would you remove any narrative from your project?

I could change the order of the images to remove some of the chronology.
